Description
According to legend, a few centuries back, a few families consisting of craftsmen hailing from Tirunelveli came to Aranmula as per the instructions of the King of Pandalam and participated in the construction of the Aranmula Parthasarathy Temple. These metallurgical experts never returned and settled in Aranmula. The exact details of the mixture and composition of the metal alloy mix used in the making of Aranmula Kannadi still remains a Vishwakarma family secret to this day and is passed only by word of mouth from generation to generation.
Since this mirror is handmade and is made from a metal alloy, quite naturally it is costlier than normal glass mirrors. A typical Aranmula Kannadi takes at least 3-4 days to make and costs any amount in the range of Rs 3000 – Rs 15000 depending upon the finesse and effort of craftsmanship involved in the making.
